f you don't see the answer to your question here- please feel free to send me an email or a message!
RITN is closed to the public.
A closed rattery is a one that does not allow people to come in and visit the rattery or handle the babies unless they are 100% certain they wish to buy them. Even then, we may meet at a separate location. Because many viruses that are transferred to rats are transmitted via airborne or by particles that can cling to our clothes- contaminates could be transferred to our rats and I refuse to risk that. But don’t worry! You won’t go into buying a rat blind. I will take pictures and videos AND if need be I can introduce your rat to you via Skype.

Seoul Virus Information
In December of 2016, an outbreak of Seoul virus was confirmed in the United States. Unfortunately, due to how many people were affected, and how many ratteries were infected with this, RITN purchased from a rattery that had positives, and in turn had a single rat come back positive after a string of testing by the CDC and IDPH.
In February of 2017, RITN shut down. And, in march of 2017, all of my rats were put down, leaving my home and heart empty.
But, rats have a fickle way of staying with you, and the longer time went on, the more I realized that I missed them dearly, and I couldn't just stop.
As of 4/13, the rattery is officially reopened! We have been generously been given rats from breeders who were removed from the situation and breeders whose rats were never part of the entire fiasco. We can't wait to get everything moving forward and thank you so much for your patience throughout all of this!
Will you be taking back rats that people can no longer care for?
If you are no longer able to care for the rats you have adopted from me, please let me know! However, I may try to work it out to get them adopted to a new home rather than being brought back here! Please understand that you will not get a refund.
Will you be selling to breeders?
Yes! :) Please contact me for more information on this but understand I'm rather picky about who they go to!
What is this contract/waiver you speak of?
You can find it on the facebook page here!
- What rat varieties does RITN have available?
- Check out the "Varieties" page! We may not have pictures up just yet- but we will with time!
- Is RITN AFRMA registered?
- Nope! Due to there being no shows in our area- it just didn't make sense to renew our registration! However, we are registered with the NARR!
- How much does RITN charge for rats?
- We no longer sell single rats. Rats do best in pairs and thus we will only, without exception, sell in pairs of either two males or two females. The fee is 60USD. With this price increase we are hoping to be able to offer more to our adopters. Such as:
- Birth certificates
- Rat care guides / booklets
- A munchy toy
- Food sample to wean babies to the new diet
- A secret gift from your lil' ones!

- What is the adoption process?
- Very simple! Complete the adoption application and when you are approved you will be able to reserve babies from the rattery! :) You will be able to reserve from available babies at 4-5 weeks of age by placing down a non refundable deposit of 1/2 of your total.
At the time of adoption (7 weeks) you will bring the remainder of your total for pickup at the ratterys location! Please make sure if you are traveling 1+ hours that you bring a waterbottle OR a cucumber for hydration!
As of 10/2016 the rattery did away with the waiting list. If you have any questions about this please feel free to contact me!

- Do you supply feeder rodents?
- Please contact us and we will put you in touch with a few friends who do! We love all animals, and understand dietary needs!
- Does RITN Ship rats?
- Unfortunately no- the price plus the dangers involved have completley turned us away from this idea :(

- Other things to note:
- We do not breed back-to-back. There may be a long wait for babies. However please note that even if we do post litters, it doesn't necessarily mean those babies will be available! We won't know who will be available out of a litter until we are able to evaluate the litter as a whole and each individual baby.
